KUALA LUMPUR – Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya (SPR) akan mengadakan Mesyuarat Khas Pilihan Raya Kecil (PRK) Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Mahkota, Johor pada 13 Ogos ini.

Menurut Setiausaha SPR, Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak, mesyuarat itu diadakan bagi membincangkan pelaksanaan PRK itu.

Katanya, satu sidang media akan diadakan sejurus selepas mesyuarat berkenaan.

“SPR sudah menerima pemakluman rasmi daripada Speaker Dewan Negeri Johor, Datuk Mohd Puad Zarkashi mengenai kekosongan luar jangka kerusi DUN Mahkota, Johor.

“(Ia) berikutan kematian penyandangnya Allahyarhamah Datuk Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain pada 2 Ogos 2024,” katanya.

Ikmalrudin berkata, kekosongan luar jangka itu perlu diisi dalam tempoh 60 hari SPR menerima pemakluman berlakunya kekosongan terbabit.

Katanya, perkara itu berdasarkan Undang-Undang Negeri Johor, Undang-Undang Tubuh Kerajaan 1895, Bahagian Kedua, Fasal (5) Perkara 23.

Terdahulu, Puad memaklumkan bahawa DUN Johor menyerahkan notis perisytiharan kekosongan kerusi DUN Mahkota susulan pemergian Sharifah Azizah kepada SPR hari ini untuk membuat tindakan selanjutnya.

Pada 2 Ogos lalu, Scoop melaporkan, Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (Adun) Mahkota itu meninggal dunia di Hospital Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom, Kluang.

Beliau dilaporkan meninggal dunia akibat pendarahan dalaman.

Sharifah Azizah adalah bekas Ketua Wanita Umno Johor dan memenangi kerusi DUN Mahkota pada Pilihan Raya Negeri (PRN) Johor 2022. – 4 Ogos, 2024
