KUALA LUMPUR – Some 850 people took to the streets as part of the Perikatan Nasional-led Save Malaysia gathering in the city centre today.
Event organisers have claimed that today’s rally is one of the steps in their goal to “save” the nation.
Other demands include the separation of the public prosecutor’s office from the Attorney-General’s Chambers, and an investigation into parties involved with the conditional discharge granted to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
However, police said public gatherings must adhere to the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 so the authorities can facilitate such events and safeguard public safety.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said as such, police will investigate the gathering today, and subsequently take appropriate action. – September 16, 2023
