Photo of the day: Fog patrol keeping dengue danger away

A contract worker of a pest-control company, in full protective gear, conducts mosquito fogging around Eco Grandeur, Puncak Alam, targeting every nook and cranny of the residential area.

This is done to control and prevent dengue, which is spread by the Aedes mosquito. 

1,290 dengue cases were recorded in the 30th epidemiological week of the year between 21 to 27 July, with no fatalities reported.

As of the aforementioned period, a total of 44,072 dengue fever cases have been reported. This represents around a 30% increase compared to the same epidemiological week in 2023, which had 33,912 cases. 

During this period, 14 dengue-related deaths were reported, compared to eight deaths during the same period last year. – August 2, 2024
