Muhyiddin’s son-in-law wanted by MACC

KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Muhammad Adlan Berhan, who is the son-in-law of former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, is wanted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The anti-graft body is also looking for Mansoor Saat, 69.

This is to assist with an investigation involving corruption and embezzlement relating to the registration, acquisition, and possession of foreign workers’ biometrics information in a ministry.

In a statement today, MACC said it had tried various methods to contact the two men and their lawyers, but they failed to present themselves to the MACC office.

It said checks with the Immigration Department confirmed that both individuals had left the country on May 17 and 21, respectively, and had not returned.

In December 2020, it was reported that Adlan was linked with S5 Holdings Inc, one of the front-runners under the RM1.2 billion National Integrated Immigration System (NIIS) concession.

The NIIS was proposed by Muhyiddin when he was the home minister under the then Pakatan Harapan government, meant to replace the National Immigration Control System (SKIN).

During a Dewan Rakyat sitting in February this year, Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong brought up the issue that led to Muhyiddin denying all allegations, saying that it was aimed at tarnishing his dignity and of his family.

He claimed that the news report was fake and that he would take legal action if Khoo repeated its outside of the lower house. – August 7, 2023
