Elmina crash: cockpit voice recorder analysis to be made public, says Loke

Recorder has been sent to the Air Accident Investigation Bureau for analysis this morning

KUALA LUMPUR – Analysis findings from the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) recovered from the private plane that crashed in the Elmina township of Shah Alam yesterday will be made public, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke. 

Speaking to reporters at the sideline of an event today, the minister confirmed that the recorder had been sent for analysis earlier this morning. 

“I have ordered for detailed investigations to be carried out immediately. We will get back to the public (on our findings) as soon as possible.” 

Previously, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said that based on checks by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (BSKU) yesterday, the Beechcraft Model 360 plane only has a CVR with no flight data recorder (FDR). 

This, Razarudin said, is not uncommon for light aircraft. 

The search covered about 11,000 square metres, ranging from the crash impact site to the last debris they found, he added. 

Yesterday’s crash resulted in 10 casualties, with eight victims on board the flight and one each from a motorcycle and car involved in the accident. 

The flight, which crashed two minutes before it was due to land at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, did not make any mayday calls prior to its sudden crash. – August 18, 2023
