M_M series number plates net whopping RM20.09 mil in revenue

M1M claims top spot with substantial bid of RM622,000, followed by M5M with a bid of RM500,000

KUALA LUMPUR – The M_M special number plate series, launched in conjunction with the country’s 66th National Day, has recorded a total revenue collection of RM20.09 million. 

The M1M special number plate received the highest bid at RM622,000, while the M5M came in second with a bid of RM500,000. 

According to the Road Transport Department (JPJ), M8M received a RM450,000 bid, followed by M9M with a RM402,004 bid and M6M’s RM350,000 bid. 

“The M_ _M series has received an extraordinary reception from bidders. A total of 25,033 bidders cast their bids, with 6,872 bidders managing to secure their targeted special number plates.”

JPJ added that M101M was one of the most sought after special number plates, with 39 bidders seeking to own the number. 

M155M attracted 33 bids, followed by M51M (32 bids) and M39M (28 bids). 

“JPJ would like to congratulate bidders who received the official results on September 5. 

“Thank you also to users who participated in the bidding to secure their special number plate of choice through the JPJeBid system.” 

Previously, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said that the suffix and prefix ‘M’ was chosen because it means Malaysia Merdeka. 

The government had earlier generated RM34 million from the release of ‘FF’ special number plates. – September 8, 2023
