Only profits matter? DBKL orders shut three food premises in Bukit Bintang

29 compounds issued following enforcement checks on 18 outlets last Friday night

9:07 AM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – Some 29 compounds have been issued, and three food premises ordered shut after City Hall (DBKL) enforcement checks on 18 outlets last Friday night.

In a Facebook post, DBKL said it found that hygiene remains unsatisfactory, especially handling of raw food, cooking utensils, and cleanliness of premises.

“We found that many operators did not take the issue of cleanliness seriously. If you go to the back of these premises, you may lose your appetite.

“We advise that the public pay attention to the cleanliness rating of the premises. The choice is in your hands,” it wrote in a post late last night.

The enforcement checks involved 19 premises – one was closed while three were ordered shut under the Licencing of Food Establishments (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) By-laws 2016.

A total of 29 compounds were issued under the same legislation. – September 18, 2023
