Police investigating China tourists’ claims on hidden camera in KK homestay

District top cop also denies instruction complainants to delete post about incident

9:32 PM MYT

KOTA KINABALU – Police are investigating a report made by a couple from China who claimed to have found a tiny camera hidden in a socket in a room of a homestay here.

Kota Kinabalu police chief Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said an investigation paper had been opened on the report lodged by the tourists on September 7.

“Preliminary investigations were carried out at the site of the incident and several items were seized. We are working on identifying the suspect,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code.

Meanwhile, Zaidi denied that police have instructed the complainants to delete the posting of the incident in social media.

He urged anyone with information of the case to assist in police investigation or contact investigating officer Khairul Shah Peri at 011-2669 1994. – September 23, 2023
