X-Trail driver rescued from drowning in Chan Sow Lin tunnel amid heavy rain

Areas such as Eko Cheras and the UKM Medical Molecular Biology Institute were affected by the floodwaters

KUALA LUMPUR – A group of traffic policemen saved a man trapped in a car during a heavy downpour in Cheras earlier today.

In a statement yesterday, police confirmed that three of its personnel rescued the 27-year-old driver by safely removing him from his vehicle.

“In an incident that occurred around 6 in the evening, the officers rushed to the scene when they noticed a man trapped inside his Nissan X-Trail in a tunnel at Jalan Chan Sow Lin en route to Jalan Pudu while they were monitoring the flooded area,” the statement said

Meanwhile, heavy downpour since early afternoon had led to flooding in various parts of Cheras.

On social media, people indicated that areas such as Eko Cheras and the UKM Medical Molecular Biology Institute were affected by the floodwaters.

MetMalaysia issued a warning yesterday morning about thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds expected in Kedah, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negri sembilan and Sarawak. -October 7, 2023
