Orang Asli to get RM333 mil in aid, infra upgrades from Budget 2024

Additionally, RM28 mil is allocated to promote entrepreneurship in community, replanting on reserve farmland

KUALA LUMPUR – The Orang Asli community is set to benefit from Budget 2024 following the announcement of RM333 million allocation from the government to be directed at aiding them in addition to infrastructure upgrades.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said through the allocation, Orang Asli villages would receive socioeconomic development, infrastructural upgrade, and social assistance.

When tabling Budget 2024 in Parliament today, Anwar said that an additional RM28 million is allocated to promote Orang Asli entrepreneurship and replanting on Orang Asli-reserve farmland in Batang Padang, Perak, and Hulu Langat, Selangor.

Meanwhile, the government will also encourage knowledge building for vulnerable communities, such as Orang Asli, people with disabilities, single mothers, and senior citizens through the Life-Long Learning Programme at community colleges.

“RM5 million will be allocated to 5,000 focused communities at 105 college communities nationwide,” he said. – October 13, 2023
