Popular cop Nik Ezanee now Special Branch’s Counter-Terrorism deputy director

He was one of 23 senior police officers nationwide whose transfers took effect yesterday

KUALA LUMPUR – Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal, who once gained public adoration years ago, has been transferred to be the deputy director of Bukit Aman Special Branch’s Counter-Terrorism Division (E8).

Prior to this, he was principal assistant director of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (JPJKK) at the police headquarters here. In early 2022, he served a four-month stint as the prime minister’s aide-de-camp (ADC) during Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s administration.

Nik Ezanee was among 23 senior police officers across the country whose transfers took effect yesterday. His previous post was filled by Special Branch deputy director Azman Omar.

According to a statement by PDRM secretary Alzafny Ahmad, Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri now heads Bukit Aman’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department.

Azman’s deputy Datuk Mancha Anak Ata will step in as state police commissioner, assuming the rank of police chief. Bukit Aman Special Branch deputy director E1 Datuk Ibrahim Darus is appointed Sarawak deputy police commissioner, while he is replaced by Special Branch E1A deputy director Datuk Shazeli Kahar.

Meanwhile, Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department’s deputy director Datuk Muhammad Abdul Halim is now Perlis police chief.

Muhammad is replaced by Bukit Aman Homeland Security and Public Order Department Special Action Unit commander Datuk Mohamad Suzrin Mohamad Rodhi.

Johor Criminal Investigation chief Kamarulzaman Elias is appointed to head the Kedah Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department. 

Previously, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain was appointed Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director effective August 30.

He was among the 18 senior officials involved in the transfer exercise. – October 14, 2023
