KUALA LUMPUR – Areas in the Klang Valley are once again experiencing flash floods, with the SMART Tunnel being closed off earlier due to rising water levels after heavy downpour. However, according to latest updates, the tunnel has been reopened.

In a tweet Astro Radio Traffic (@astroradiotraffic) said that flash floods at the SMART Tunnel’s Cheras and Taman Desa entrance caused a vehicle to be stranded after it was inundated by high water levels.

Authorities are said to have arrived at the scene to assist the driver.

SMART, via a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), confirmed the closure of the Cheras and Taman Desa road due to heavy rainfall.

About an hour later at around 5.44pm, it said that the tunnel had been fully closed to facilitate flood operations.

However, at 7.26pm, SMART confirmed that the tunnel has been reopened.

Meanwhile, slow traffic was also reported at Jalan Peel, Jalan Sri Permaisuri, Lebuhraya Bukit Jalil, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Hang Tuah and the Yaacob Latif Tunnel due to flash floods. – October 18, 2023
