MYTV Broadcasting to suspend Awesome TV for contract breach

The suspension is set to take effect on November 2 despite concerted efforts from both parties to resolve their commercial issues

KUALA LUMPUR – MYTV Broadcasting Sdn Bhd will suspend Awesome Broadcasting Sdn Bhd’s (Awesome TV) from its broadcasting platform due to commercial issues.

The suspension is set to take effect on November 2.

“Awesome TV suspension, set to take effect on November 2, 2023, has been reached due to ongoing commercial issues between MYTV and Awesome TV, despite concerted efforts from both parties to resolve them,” stated MYTV in a statement.

It added that the suspension of the channel is “regrettable” and apologised to viewers for any inconvenience caused.

“We appreciate the support and understanding of our valued viewers during this time and assure them that we are working tirelessly to find a resolution in the best interest of everyone involved.

“MYTV remains committed to delivering a wide array of high-quality content through its broadcasting platform, and we will continue to offer our viewers access to compelling and diverse programming choices.”

MYTV is responsible for developing and operating Malaysia’s Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) infrastructure and network facilities under the National Broadcasting Digitalisation Project.

It is Malaysia’s only platform for free digital TV, currently accessed by 6.3 million viewers nationwide, with no monthly fees or charges.
