KUALA LUMPUR – Police have detained another suspect in connection with an investigation into embattled low-cost carrier MYAirline.

In a statement, Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said the suspect, a male in his 40s, had been detained at his residence in Bangsar, early today.

Ramli said the suspect will be brought to the Jinjang central lockup for the remand application, while his department personnel seized various items in the course of the investigation.

The listed items seized by the police so far include 12 vehicles, i-Serve Technology and Vacation Sdn Bhd related documents, six luxury wristwatches, eight luxury handbags, two laptops, a CPU, and 10 pieces of jewellery.

He added that the police are still investigating further.

The latest arrest comes after police arrested the co-founder of a local airline, who bears the title of ‘Datuk’, along with his wife and son, last week.

The trio have been detained to facilitate investigations under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (Amla).

The four-day remand order on the trio ended on Saturday, but Ramli confirmed that it was extended until yesterday for the businessman, while his wife and son were released without any remand extension. – October 23, 2023
