KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian actor Sharnaaz Ahmad will learn the outcome of his representation letter to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) on November 17.

Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed@Mohamad Saim fixed the date during today’s proceedings.

Initially, the court was to hear the AGC’s decision on Sharnaaz’s representation letter, which he sent in May, requesting that the AGC drop his charge.

However, deputy public prosecutor Nadia Eleena Jamaluddin Akbal told the court that the letter is still being considered by the AGC.

On January 18, the 38-year-old actor was charged with physically assaulting a man at Block C of Changkat View Condominium on June 16, last year. Upon conviction, Section 323 of the Penal Code carries a maximum one-year jail sentence, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.

Meanwhile, Sharnaaz’s lawyer, Datuk Wan Azmir Wan Majid, confirmed that the police report lodged against the actor regarding the assault has been retracted.

Last year, then Sentul police chief Beh Eng Lai said an actor was remanded for allegedly punching and kicking a Segambut condominium resident.

The actor, who also stays at the condo, reportedly got into a scuffle when a security guard did not allow the victim’s friend into the residential area. – October 31, 2023
