Parliament to focus on school bullying, cybercrime measures today

Dewan Rakyat to resume with policy-level winding-up debate on Supply Bill 2024 following today’s session

KUALA LUMPUR – Efforts being taken to address the issue of bullying in schools and the government’s measures to strengthen the Royal Malaysia Police in dealing with cybercrimes are among the topics that will be discussed in Parliament today. 

According to the Order Paper on the website of the Parliament, Datuk Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik (Balik Pulau-PH) will pose questions to the education minister regarding the increasingly prevalent issue of bullying in schools during the question-and-answer session.

During the same session, Muhammad Ismi Mat Taib (Parti-PN) will question the home minister on the steps taken by the government to strengthen the police force in terms of equipment and capabilities to combat the latest cybercrime trends.

In addition, Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad (Simpang Renggam-BN) will ask the finance minister to state the government’s initiative to promote Islamic Green Finance in order to support a portion of the funding required for the nation to achieve the carbon-neutral agenda by 2050 and the National Energy Transition Roadmap.

Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (Rantau Panjang-PN) will ask the women, family, and community development minister about the number of children under the supervision of the Social Welfare Department’s Children’s Institution who are still without identification documents.

After the session, the Dewan Rakyat will resume with the policy-level winding-up debate on Supply Bill 2024 by several ministries.

The winding-up session will last four days, starting Monday, followed by a 12-day debate on the bill at the committee level starting November 6.

The current Parliament sitting will be in session for 32 days, from October 9 until November 30. – November 1, 2023
