KUALA LUMPUR – Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has arrived at the Jalan Duta courthouse here at 9.33am to learn his fate in his criminal charges.
Clad in black suit, the 30-year-old lawmaker walks in the court complex, accompanied by his parents and supporters. Alongside him was also Muda deputy president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz.
Before entering the courtroom, Syed Saddiq reiterated his faith in the law to clear his name and that he believes that the truth will prevail.
“I have been fighting in court for years, and I did not bow down to any threats. I am confident that, God willing, the truth will win,” he told reporters.
High court judge Datuk Azhar Abdul Hamid is scheduled to deliver the decision around 10am on the four criminal charges levelled against the Muda president today.
He was charged in 2021 with one count of criminal breach of trust that alleged he had abetted Rafiq Hakim Razali, who was entrusted with RM1 million of Bersatu Youth’s (Armada) funds.

He also faces three other charges – one count of misappropriating Armada Bumi Bersatu Enterprise funds amounting to RM120,000 by causing Rafiq to dispose of the funds, and two charges of allegedly being engaged in money laundering involving two transactions of RM50,000, each believed to be proceeds from unlawful activities.
If Syed Saddiq is found guilty today, he can file an appeal against the conviction and sentences, as well as a stay of conviction pending the appeal decision.
If he is discharged, he could walk free, but the prosecution has the right to file an appeal against the court’s decision.
His parents, Shariffah Mahani Syed Abdul Aziz and Syed Abdul Rahman Abdullah Asagoff, arrived ahead of the Muda president at 9.05am.
Some of his Muda members – including Abe Lim, Melanie Ting, H. Vikneswary, and Kalyana Rajasekaran Teagarajan – are at the court complex to provide support for their president.
Over a dozen supporters were already congregating in front of the court as well, some arriving as early as 8.30am. – November 9, 2023
