Post-Deepavali crawl on North-South, Karak highways towards KL

Millions of cars are packing the various highways along the length of the Peninsular as families head home

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysians heading home after the Deepavali weekend can expect crawls on various stretches southbound on the North-South Expressway.

According to Astro Radio Traffic on X, traffic is slow between Kuala Kangsar and the Menora Tunnel, even though an earlier accident at KM254.1 Southbound has been cleared.

Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic for about 12 km, it said.

Congestion was also reported for at least 8 km towards the south, after the Changkat Jering exit to Padang Rengas.

Meanwhile, the Malaysia Highway Authority said in a Facebook post that another accident caused slow traffic at KM75 Southbound between Ayer Hitam and Machap, but no lane is closed.

At around 1.40pm on the Kuala Lumpur–Karak Expressway, a 5 km traffic jam caused an hour’s delay from Bentong to Bukit Tinggi, Astro Radio Traffic reported on X.

Today is the last day of the three-day weekend for Deepavali, which took place yesterday.

The Malaysia Highway Authority has predicted more than two million vehicles will be on the North-South Expressway in conjunction with the festive season.

The KL-Karak Expressway, East Coast Expressway Phase 1, and East Coast Expressway Phase 2 are predicted to have 173,000, 71,000, and 50,000 vehicles, respectively. – November 13, 2023

Why is there a monopoly of rice in Malaysia ? — Remy Majangkim
