KUALA LUMPUR – Kepala Batas MP Siti Mastura Muhammad says she will await the outcome of the police investigations following statements that she had uttered before proceeding with any further action, pending the advice of her lawyer.
Speaking to reporters after having her statement recorded at Bukit Aman, the first-term PAS MP’s lawyer Ahmad Amzar Ahmad Azlan said no action will be taken at the moment until investigations are complete.
“For now, the statement (issued by Siti Mastura) remains as it is, which means let the police conduct their investigation and if there’s further action, we will look through it.
“After that, we will decide whether the statement will be retracted or amended or (whether she will) issue an apology or even fight (this case).
“We haven’t even discussed (our next course of action yet),” he said.
According to Amzar, Siti Mastura is being investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
In addition to providing full cooperation, Amzar said they have also submitted the relevant materials to police for their reference.
“We have provided the materials we have collected and have submitted it to the police. Whether it’s relevant or not, we leave it to the police to investigate,” he said.
Amzar also confirmed Siti Mastura had received four letters of claim from DAP stalwart Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang, DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng, Guan Eng’s wife Betty Chew and Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.

Meanwhile, Siti Mastura questioned the status of the investigation of Guan Eng’s case regarding his alleged insensitive remarks in July in the run up to the Penang state election.
“It said that my case is related to the 3Rs (issues involving race, religion and royalty) so I wonder about the Bagan MP’s (Guan Eng) case update on the state election in Penang.
“If I’m not mistaken, it is also related to 3Rs about temples so I wonder what’s the investigation status on the statement,” she said.
On July 8, Guan Eng allegedly issued a statement during a programme where he claimed that the PAS “green wave” would destroy temples and deny religious rights in Penang.
The latest development comes after police reports were lodged against Siti Mastura for claiming that Guan Eng and his father, Kit Siang, were related to long-deceased Malayan Communist Party leader Chin Peng, as well as the former Singapore prime minister, the late Lee Kuan Yew.
She made the claim in a speech at a PAS programme in Kemaman, Terengganu, on November 4, of which video is available. In her speech, she also alleged Guan Eng’s wife, Chew, is cousins with Kok.
Siti Mastura also claimed Guan Eng and his father were related to DAP secretary-general and Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Local Government and Development Minister Nga Kor Ming and Beruas MP Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham.
Additionally, she “renamed” the late Singapore leader Lee as “Lim” in her speech.
As of yesterday, there were more than six police reports lodged over the matter, two of which are against the first-time MP for her remarks.
On November 9, Bukit Bendera MP Syerleena Abdul Rashid lodged a police report against the PAS MP over her failure to retract the alleged slanderous statements.
On November 10, Guan Eng said he had initiated legal proceedings against Siti Mastura, appointing lawyer Sankara Narayanan Nair as his counsel for the matter.
In the Dewan Rakyat on November 7, Siti Mastura ignored and refused to answer calls by Pakatan Harapan MPs to explain and show proof of her claims. – November 14, 2023
