KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has lodged a police report against Terengganu Bersatu chief Datuk Razali Idris today, following statements made by the latter last week.

The commission said in a statement today that the report was filed in response to a TikTok video posted by user @wancin11.

“In the post, Razali made several false statements during his ceramah at the Kemaman by-election machinery on November 10.

“He had stated that the current administration controls the government machinery, MACC, and judiciary, in addition to disputing the high court judge’s decision in relation to the conviction of four charges against the former youth and sports minister.”

“MACC takes the slander and accusations that are hurled against it seriously because they can affect public confidence in the enforcement and legal system of this country,” it said.

The commission further described itself as an enforcement agency empowered by law to execute its function and role in fighting corruption independently and professionally without being controlled by any party.

“Therefore, MACC hopes that appropriate action can be taken as soon as possible

against those who issue and spread such slander and accusations,” it added. – November 15, 2023
