RM8.9 million spent to publicise govt’s Madani concept

KUALA LUMPUR – The government has spent RM8.9 million in mass publicity material such as billboards to promote the ‘Malaysia Madani’ brand since last November.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah, Sarawak Affairs and Special Functions) Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the amount spent came from the previous administration’s allocation. 

“The expenditure includes printing costs, maintenance, static and digital billboards logistics, as well as banners and bunting installed throughout the country for the purpose of publicising and promoting ‘Malaysia Madani’. 

“Efforts to promote ‘Malaysia Madani’ and its aspiration are holistic and it is implemented across ministries, departments and agencies through various platforms and mediums.”

Armizan said this in a written parliamentary reply to Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh (Besut-PN), who asked how much had been spent by the unity government since it was formed after the general election that took place last November.

The Malaysia Madani framework and slogan was introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s government in January, to replace the Keluarga Malaysia branding of former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s administration.
