KUALA LUMPUR – British rock band Coldplay, which will perform in Malaysia for the first time tonight, has ramped up the anticipation for its concert by sharing clips of the stage set-up inside the Bukit Jalil National Stadium here.

Over on the Grammy-winning band’s official Instagram, the group shared a short video of the interior of the stadium and the stage set-up for its much-awaited performance.

While the stadium was devoid of people at the time the group posted the clip on its Instagram Stories, concertgoers have since been allowed to enter the stadium to take their seats since 5pm.

In a separate story, the group expressed its excitement for tonight’s show while joking about the rainy weather, saying: “First time in KL, last show of the year… the scene is set for a fantastic night.

“We are very grateful for the warm (and wet) welcome and can’t wait to get going. Thank you very much for having us here in Malaysia.”

Coldplay fanatics were seen queuing outside the stadium for their wristbands as early as 9am despite being informed by the organisers that the ticketing counters would only begin operating from noon onwards.

One local fan did not let a serious injury prevent her from missing the opportunity to see the band perform, as she was spotted in the queue with crutches due to a broken leg

Tickets to the Coldplay concert were sold out within three hours when sales opened earlier this year, indicating the love for the band.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also welcomed Coldplay to perform in Malaysia when the band announced its Kuala Lumpur show on May 9 this year. – November 22, 2023
