PUTRAJAYA – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has inked memoranda of understanding (MoU) with several entities to aid improvements in the digital economy arena.
Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, who witnessed the handing over of the agreements to their respective agencies today, expressed his hopes for the MoUs to facilitate society’s adaptation to digital methods.
The MoUs are between MCMC, the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda), the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) and the Malaysian Pharmacists’ Society (MPS).
“All three memorandums are aimed at increasing communities’ participation in the digital economy while improving connectivity,” Fahmi said after the ceremony at the National Digital Centre (PEDi) Conference, here, today.
Also in attendance at the event was Deputy Communications and Digital Minister Teo Nie Ching, ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa and MCMC chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din.
Meanwhile, Felda strategic communications director Mastura Abdul Manap, MMA secretary-general Datuk Dr Thirunavukarasu Rajoo and MPS president Prof Amrahi Buang were also present to represent their various entities.
The memoranda with MMA and MPS are expected to improve digitalisation at clinics and pharmacies through the digital grant for micro, small and medium enterprises in line with the Madani Economy and the health white paper.
Besides that, MCMC and Felda will be working together on a series of awareness campaigns centred on digital literacy, cybersecurity and income opportunities based on cashless platforms.
This will also see the involvement of MCMC’s other strategic partners, including Touch ‘n Go, Foodpanda, Boost, Maybank MAE QR and other financial services providers. – November 29, 2023
