Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap appointed HRD Corp Chairman

As Executive Chairman of Sunsuria Berhad, he oversaw the company's rise into a major player in various industries

KUALA LUMPUR – Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap, the Executive Chairman of Sunsuria Berhad, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB), better known as HRD Corp.

The appointment was announced by Human Resource Minister V. Sivakumar in a statement today.

“The minister of human resources welcomes Ter as the Chairman of the HRD Corp board of directors, and this appointment is expected to add value to HRD Corp and take the organisation to a higher level in leading the national human capital development agenda,” said the statement.

According to the statement, Ter, who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering from Universiti Malaya, is a respected entrepreneur and business figure with over 30 years of experience in various industries.

Apart from being active in business, he has also been outspoken in advocating issues of national unity and social welfare. In recognition of his contributions, he was appointed as the National Unity Ambassador by the Department of National Unity and Integration for the year 2016.           

Under his leadership, Sunsuria Berhad has grown from a small company to a major player in real estate, healthcare, education, construction, and many other industries.

In addition, he has also led Sunsuria to be listed on the Bursa Malaysia stock market. – November 29, 2023
