KUALA LUMPUR – A 46-year-old man was charged at the Ampang sessions court today with downloading child pornography material.

Ampang Jaya police chief assistant commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said the self-employed man pleaded not guilty to the offence under Section 10 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

The man’s charge comes about a week since his arrest, on November 30, by officers from the Malaysian Internet Crime Against Children (Micac) team from Bukit Aman’s Sexual, Women and Child Investigation Division (D11).

“The accused’s first remand order was for four days from December 1 to 4, and the second time from December 5 to 6.”

The court today ordered RM5000 bail on the accused, and fixed January 29 next year for mention, Mohd Azam added. – December 6, 2023
