KUALA LUMPUR – Amanah vice president Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa has instructed his lawyers to initiate execution proceedings against PAS Ulama Council committee member Ahmad Dusuki Abdul Rani, over the latter’s alleged failure to settle court costs totalling RM23,000.

The former Parit Buntar MP said his lawyers had sent letters of demand to Dusuki twice, in September and October.

“Although my lawyers sent letters of demand twice to Dusuki for him to comply with the court’s orders and pay the costs, he still refuses to do so,”

“He is still disputing the court’s decision on Facebook, even though he was the one who withdrew his appeal at the Court of Appeals,” he said in a statement posted on Facebook.

At the same time, Mujahid said that his lawyers have filed a Judgement Debtor Summon to the sessions court and Shah Alam High Court to claim the unpaid amount.

He added that his side made four attempts to deliver the summon to Dusuki, but was met with refusal from the latter.

Mujahid said his lawyer would exhaust all options available under the law to deliver the letter.

“I would like to remind (Dusuki) that it (summon) is a debt ordered by the court for him to pay,” he said.

“I have spent a lot on expenses and costs to defend myself against his claim, which the court ultimately decided was baseless and without merit.

“As a person knowledgeable about shariah laws – especially those related to debts – (Dusuki) should set a good example for the community, and not be arrogant and apathetic like this,”

Dusuki had taken Mujahid to court on November 22, 2020, over allegations that the latter had sold Tabung Haji assets to non-Muslim individuals.

However, the Shah Alam Sessions Court rejected Dusuki’s claim with a cost of RM11,000.

Subsequently, he appealed to the high court, which was rejected once more, resulting in an additional cost of RM7,000.

On August 29 this year, he was ordered by the Court of Appeal to retract his claim against Mujahid, besides paying an appeal cost amounting to RM5,000. – December 15, 2023
