[UPDATED] Amanah poll: Dr Dzul garners most votes, just one more than Khalid Samad

Party president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu places eighth with 613 votes

KUALA LUMPUR – Only one vote separates Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad and Khalid Samad as the two garnered the highest number of votes – 900 and 899, respectively – in Amanah’s central committee race today.

This is followed by Shah Alam MP Azli Yusof (755 votes), former religious minister Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa (699), Datuk Mahfuz Omar (694), Suhaizan Kaiat (682) and Adly Zahari (643).

The election results also saw the party president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu push to eighth spot with 613 votes.

Amanah elects its top five leaders and other committee members in its internal polls today.

Held in conjunction with its annual national convention, the election sees 124 candidates vying for the five spots as well as 27 seats in its central committee.

Veteran activist Mazlan Aliman and Johor Amanah chief Aminolhuda Hassan have been ousted from the central committee through the voting process this year.

The newly-elected central committee will then convene to decide who should be appointed party president, deputy president, and other top posts.
