Never heard of it, says Nancy Shukri on Langkah Dubai

She denies PBB lawmakers have backed alleged move to topple unity govt

KUCHING – Santubong MP Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri has refuted claims that she and other Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) MPs had given their support to Langkah Dubai.

Nancy, who is also federal women, family and community development minister, said she had not heard anything about the move, which was an alleged attempt to overthrow the unity government.

“Never heard of it,” she said when asked to comment on the alleged meeting involving some MPs from PBB, Barisan Nasional, PAS and Bersatu in Dubai to overthrow the unity government.

The allegation, which was dubbed “Langkah Dubai,” was speculated to be another plot to topple the current administration led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Langkah Dubai surfaced as some opposition leaders had met certain quarters from the government during their recent vacation in the UAE capital.

It has been claimed that the meeting took place to discuss and assign specific tasks to “agents” responsible for identifying MPs who might switch support to the opposition through inducements, solely to establish a “backdoor government”.

It also claimed that PBB was offered to take the prime minister’s post, along with greater autonomy and up to 20% oil revenue royalties for Sarawak. – December 30, 2023
