Attempts to defame Anwar will continue to fail, says Rafizi

Rival politicians have long resorted to slander against PKR president, says party deputy chief

KUALA LUMPUR – All forms of slander to bring down Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim by a handful of politicians will continue to fail.

Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli claimed such politicians have been competing with Anwar for decades, often using defamation.

In fact, the PKR deputy president insisted that they failed in 1999 and continued to fail in 2015 and 2022.

“It will continue to fail. And it is from this slander that gave birth to people like me, Nurul Izzah Anwar, (Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister) Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, (Science, Technology and Innovation Minister) Chang Lih Kang, (Selangor Menteri Besar) Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, (Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar) Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun and many others.

“Continue this slander, and God willing, more people like us will be born,” he said in a post on X today.

He was responding to an X user who questioned the sodomy cases involving Anwar previously.

Rafizi said he had personally followed Anwar’s trial from the first day until the end and even wrote a book about the case.

“He (Anwar) does nothing when people continue to play this slander, but those who repeat it continue to sin, including social media ‘gangs’ who believe without checking into the facts of the case,” he said. – December 31, 2023
