MCMC jumps in to boost all Mara institutions’ internet connectivity

342 Mara educational institutions will benefit from the collaboration, which will also boost Malaysia’s digital economy

6:42 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will help upgrade the internet network connections across all 342 educational institutions under Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara), following several complaints from students and educators.

This was revealed by Mara chairman Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, following a meeting with MCMC chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din earlier today.

“Alhamdulillah (praise to God), Tan Sri agreed for MCMC to assist Mara, especially in upgrading the internet network connectivity across all 342 Mara educational institutions.

“Particularly at 269 institutions focusing on TVET learning, that pioneer the latest technology for improving internet access to achieve more effective digital and ICT learning for students and educators,” he said in a Facebook post.

Besides benefiting students under TVET and Mara, Asyraf said the MCMC-Mara collaboration will also contribute to the country’s digital economy, which is in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

“This initiative will also provide students and lecturers with better access to online resources and educational materials efficiently, in both rural and urban areas,” he added.

Also present during the meeting today was the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) chairman, Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek. – January 5, 2024
