Wan Ahmad Dahlan appointed as PSD director-general

He has 29 years in public service, with stints in the Prime Minister's Department, Transport Ministry, Home Ministry

KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz, 58, has been appointed as Public Service Department (PSD) director-general effective tomorrow (January 9).

In announcing this, Chief Secretary of Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali said the appointment had received the consent of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

Wan Ahmad Dahlan’s appointment was based on his extensive experience across various fields, including policy, management, and services, he said.

“Additionally, he had previously served as the director-general of the Implementation Coordination Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department.

“He has dedicated 29 years to public service since joining as the assistant secretary of the Transport Ministry on January 25, 1995,” he said in a statement today.

Wan Ahmad Dahlan graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies (Honours) from Airlangga University, Surabaya, Indonesia, and a Master’s Degree in Strategic and Defence Studies from University Malaya.

According to Mohd Zuki, Wan Ahmad Dahlan has also served as Home Ministry secretary-general previously.

“I am confident that, with his experience and credibility, he will be able to shoulder the responsibility entrusted to him, supporting the efforts and ensuring that the reform in the public sector aligns with the aspirations of the Madani government.

“The government also expressed its appreciation and gratitude to Datuk Seri Zulkapli Mohamed for his contributions throughout his service as the current director-general,” he said. – January 8, 2024
