Brutal Melaka murder: police confirm headless body unrelated to missing Bella

Police intensify efforts to identify victim, seek public assistance with information related to case

KUALA LUMPUR – Police have confirmed that the headless body of a woman discovered in a rubbish bin along the Alor Gajah-Tampin road near Kg Rimau, Pulau Sebang in Melaka last Sunday is not that of Mira Sharmila Samsusah, also known as Bella.

Melaka police chief Datuk Zainol Samah said that the result of the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test conducted on the body revealed it is not Bella, who was reported missing in Batu Pahat, Johor, on December 14.

He said that the DNA comparison, carried out with Bella’s family members in Batu Pahat and Gemencheh, Negri Sembilan, did not produce conclusive results.

“The DNA specimen was also sent to D13 (Bank Data/DNA) of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, alongside other previously reported cases.

“Police are still investigating and determining the identity of the deceased,” he said in a statement today.

Bella was reported missing after allegedly going out with her boyfriend. Her family members lodged a police report two days later.

Thirty-two-year-old Bella has two children, aged two and four.

Zainol also urged members of the public with information related to the case to reach out to the nearest police station or contact 06-556-2222.

Meanwhile, in the Melaka case, Alor Gajah police chief Arshad Abu said that based on preliminary investigations, the victim was murdered, with her head, arms, and legs severed.

The dismembered body parts were subsequently discarded in a rubbish bin and then thrown into a drain along the roadside. – January 8, 2024
