Sanusi should watch his mouth, listen to PAS spiritual leader: Nik Nazmi

Perikatan Nasional should focus on being constructive instead of causing problems, PKR veep adds

KUALA LUMPUR – Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor should heed the advice of fellow PAS spiritual leader Datuk Hashim Jasin and just “watch his mouth”.

In saying this, PKR vice president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad added that it would be good for Perikatan Nasional (PN) to focus on being a constructive opposition in the government, instead of causing unwarranted issues.

“Every day, every month, this matter is consistently raised, seemingly only to peddle unrealistic promises to MPs and PN supporters.

“It would be better if Sanusi listened to PAS leader Hasim Jasin, watch his words, and not stir up controversies,” he said in a post on X today.

Nik Nazmi, who is also the Natural Resources and Environment Minister, said Sanusi’s claim that the opposition has secured sufficient statutory declarations (SD) to topple the government is baseless because opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin has denied that Yang di-Pertuan Agong had agreed to grant an audience to 118 MPs.

“This clearly shows that Sanusi only spreads fake news to stay relevant.

“As opposition, PN should just focus on playing a check-and-balance role within the government,” the Setiawangsa MP said.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim declined to comment on the allegations and said that he wanted to focus on more important matters.

On January 7, Sanusi claimed there were enough SDs by MPs to topple the federal unity government.

However, he did not provide further details on the matter, including the number of SDs obtained.

This is despite a denial by the opposition leader’s office, which confirmed the statement was fake news.

Sanusi’s allegations follow Community Communications Department (J-Kom) Deputy Director-General Datuk Ismail Yusop’s claim that a political move, dubbed Langkah Dubai, is underway to overthrow the Madani government.

Last month, in a Facebook post, Ismail said that Langkah Dubai was engineered by PN figures as well as former two-time prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his right-hand man Tun Daim Zainuddin, who is currently being investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. – January 9, 2024
