PUTRAJAYA – After more than six hours, the recording of the statement by Tun Daim Zainuddin’s wife to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is still ongoing, while her two sons have already completed theirs.

The matter was conveyed to the media today by their lawyer, Rajesh Nagarajan, through WhatsApp.

“The questioning involving Toh Puan Naimah Abdul Khalid is still ongoing, while Tun Daim’s children have completed giving their statements,” he said today.

Meanwhile, Rajesh said that no statements would be made by these three individuals to the media after the questioning concludes.

Naimah and her two sons, Muhammed Amin and Muhammed Amir, arrived at the MACC headquarters here at 10.10am today, accompanied by two lawyers.

The trio were summoned to answer questions by graft investigators over the recent raid and seizure of the Ilham Tower in Kuala Lumpur.

Naimah was reported as saying earlier that a campaign of misinformation and misperception is being spread, suggesting that her husband, Daim, is wealthy and therefore corrupt.

She added that he was a successful man even before becoming a member of the government some four decades ago.

“It is public knowledge that Daim was a very successful businessman before joining the government in 1984. 

“He was already referred to as a tycoon and multimillionaire by the media before joining the government 40 years ago.

“Now, a campaign of misinformation and misconception is being spread to suggest that he is corrupt just because he is very wealthy,” she told reporters.

Naimah also said such logic meant that every successful businessman in Malaysia would be subject to the same accusation. – January 10, 2024
