Cop pleads not guilty to raping and assaulting underaged girl

KUALA LUMPUR – Police officer Lance Corporal Muhammad Fazrul Razzi has pleaded not guilty to four criminal charges linked to the rape of an underaged girl.

Fazrul, 31, has been charged at the Ampang Sessions Court today with two counts of rape under Section 376(1) and 377CA of the Penal Code.

He was also charged with sexual intercourse against the order of nature under Section 377C of the Penal Code, as well as sexual assault under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

He has been accused of committing the offences against a 17-year-old girl in a patrol car on January 9 around 10.30pm.

His charges were read out at the sessions court today. 

Judge Norshila Kamaruddin set bail at RM20,000 and one surety as well as prohibiting the accused from contacting or speaking to the victim.

Fazrul, who is married with one child, could face a maximum 20 years in prison and whipping.

On January 11, it was reported that two Selangor police officers were arrested for extorting money and raping a private college student in Bukit Ampang View here.

At the Ampang Magistrate Court, Fazrul and 24-year-old police constable Adib Aikal Shahru Nizam claimed trial to one count of extorting the girl’s boyfriend into paying them RM500.

The two police officers are accused of intimidating the boy, also aged 17, by threatening to spread a video of the underaged couple kissing if the teenager refused to hand over the funds to them.

The offence was allegedly committed within the Ampang area at 10.09pm on the same night of the supposed rape of the female youth.

If found guilty of the crime under Section 384 of the Penal Code for extortion, the duo face a jail term of up to 10 years, a fine, whipping or a combination of the two penalties.

Magistrate Amalina Basirah Md Top set bail for the two cops at RM4,000 each with one surety.

The prosecution was represented by deputy public prosecutor Nor Azizah Mohamad while counsel G. Visvanathan Nair and Kee Wei Lon defended Fazrul and Adib, respectively. – January 17, 2024
