PAS pushes #kekaltenang, #DaulatTuanku on social media to show support for royalty

Hashtags were popularised by opposition supporters amid political uncertainty in the country

KUALA LUMPUR – PAS reminds Malaysians to remain calm, using the hashtag #kekaltenang on social media, and to continue upholding their loyalty towards the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The hashtag was popularised by opposition supporters amid political uncertainty in the country.

PAS’ information and new media department director-general Zurk Ahmad expressed happiness to see that the hashtag, along with #DaulatTuanku (long live the king), has garnered a significant online response, which were also used by Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli.

He also urged the people to entrust the country’s administrative affairs and national matters to the Agong’s wisdom, emphasising that they must uphold Rukun Negara’s second principle, ‘Loyalty to the King and Country.’

“Have we not witnessed the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s care towards all Malaysians and how he has astutely managed and resolved various political conflicts?

“Trust that whatever decision he makes is in the best interest of the people.

“We must remain calm and pray for the best. God-willing, those who stay calm will prevail, while the restless and frantic will lose,” he said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Zurk added that the inundation of hashtags on Istana Negara’s official social media pages showcased the people’s support and appreciation for the nation’s sovereignty.

“The hashtag aims to remind people, as well as supporters on both sides of the political divide, to maintain decorum and avoid provocations despite ongoing threats to the nation’s political stability.

“It is a call to the people, including supporters of Perikatan Nasional (PN), Pakatan Harapan (PH), and even Barisan Nasional (BN), to remain calm and refrain from making any provocations, regardless of what happens in the homeland’s politics,” he added.

His comments were in response to the contentious Langkah Dubai, a plot to topple the current unity government.

Community Communications Department (J-Kom) deputy director-general Datuk Ismail Yusop claimed the plot was orchestrated by opposition leaders and involved several members of the government bloc during their recent vacation to the United Arab Emirates.

Although the scheme did not ultimately materialise, it is still the subject of a police investigation after a total of 145 police reports were lodged over the matter. – January 18, 2024
