KUALA LUMPUR – Tan Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has apparently resigned as Dewan Negara president to make way for his appointment as the eighth Sarawak governor.

The Malaysian Insight reported that it had sighted Wan Junaidi’s resignation letter and that he is expected to take the oath of office soon.

Meanwhile, an aide to Wan Junaidi declined to comment on the matter, but told Scoop that the media will be promptly informed “if there is anything”.

Current Sarawak governor Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud has held the position since March 2014. His term is ending in February. – January 19, 2024
