KAPAR – The two victims of the crash involving a BK160 Gabriel plane here today have been found and confirmed dead, said Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

Addressing a press conference at the crash site, Hussein said the victims, who are locals, were found buried in the plane’s wreckage about 2m underground.

“The aircraft belongs to a recreational flying club called the Air Adventure Flying Club. The training aircraft weighs about 1,300kg, and it had nosedived and (ended up) buried in the ground.

“Police, together with the Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defence Force and other authorities are working together to remove the bodies from the aircraft debris.

“The victims are a pilot, in his 30s, and a passenger who is also a flying club member. He’s (believed) to be in his 40s,” he said.

Based on the flight manifest, the victims are Daniel Yee Hsiang Khoon, 30, and Roshaan Singh Raina, 42.

Hussein said a preliminary investigation found that one of the victims was from Johor while the other was from Penang, and that they could have both resided in Selangor.

However, he said, the investigation was still ongoing to confirm the victims’ residency.

He said the bodies were found in the plane’s cockpit and the process to extract the bodies from the plane was still ongoing.

He also confirmed that the bodies, once recovered, would be brought to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang for post-mortem and handed to their families for identification.

“We could not confirm if the bodies are intact, as the process to extract them from the cockpit is ongoing.”

Hussein said the extraction was a tedious and challenging process, as half of the wreckage was buried about 2m in.

“(But) we expect that the bodies can be fully recovered by tonight.“

He added that the investigation into the crash would be done by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau, while police will open inquiry papers for investigation purposes as well.

He further said that the investigation areas were about 50m from the crash site. – February 13, 2024
