KUALA LUMPUR – Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is currently receiving treatment at the National Heart Institute (IJN) for an infection, is not in critical condition, a source said.

The source said Dr Mahathir was “conscious” and in stable condition, dispelling the rumours circulating on social media.

The source also said that IJN was expected to release a statement on the nonagenarian’s condition soon.

On February 13, it was reported that Dr Mahathir would be taking a period of rest following treatment at IJN for an infection.

This development follows his admission to the cardiac specialist centre on January 26.

Scheduled to turn 99 on July 10 this year, Dr Mahathir had previously confirmed his admission to IJN for infection-related treatment in August last year.

Prior to that, in September 2022, he was reportedly admitted for Covid-19 treatment. – February 19, 2024
