Former chief secretary Ismail Bakar named EAIC chairman

Ex-Federal Court judge Datuk Prasad Sandosham Abraham appointed deputy chair

KUALA LUMPUR – Former chief secretary to the government Tan Sri Ismail Bakar has been appointed chairman of the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) for three years effective from February 1, 2024 to January 31, 2027.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in a statement today, said former Federal Court judge Datuk Prasad Sandosham Abraham was appointed deputy chairman of the EAIC.

Also appointed as commission members were Datuk Seri Yusof Ismail; Datuk Seri Razali Ab Malik; Datuk Mohd Gazali Abas; Datuk Ong Lam Kiat; and Datuk Siti Zainab Binti Omar.

“The appointment has received the consent of the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on January 24 in line with subsection 5(1) of the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission Act 2009 (Act 700).

“It is hoped the appointment will strengthen the implementation of EAIC’s functions and effectiveness towards ensuring the quality of effective enforcement and integrity among enforcement officers and enforcement agencies,” said Anwar.

In the same statement, the prime minister expressed his appreciation for the previous line-up of EAIC commissioners, namely Tan Sri Sidek Hassan; Tan Sri Datuk Zainun Ali; Tan Sri Mahmood Adam; Tan Sri Aziah Ali; Datuk Alizatul Khair Osman Khairuddin; Datuk John Louis O’Hara and Prof Nik Ahmad Kamal Nik Mahmod, who completed their service at the EAIC on June 30, 2023. – February 20, 2024
