[UPDATED] Double decker RapidKL bus seen ablaze by Jalan Syed Putra

No passengers were seen in or outside the bus at the time

KUALA LUMPUR – The engine block of a double decker public bus caught fire near Wisma YPR, off Jalan Syed Putra here this morning.

In a video captured by Scoop, there were no passengers seen in the burning RapidKL bus.

In response, the department said a motorcyclist alerted the bus driver over the fire, resulting in him stopping the vehicle by the road.

“The driver managed to turn off the engine and instructed all seven passengers to alight and get to safety.”

The emergency call was received at 8.06am and 16 personnel were deployed.

The bus was 90% destroyed and the cause of fire is being investigated.

RapidKL has been contacted about the incident.

On January 29, a RapidKL caught on fire in front of the Great Eastern Mall in Jalan Ampang here at 10.52am. All the passengers and the driver escaped unscathed. – March 5, 2024
