Bersatu’s Selat Klang rep no-show at Selangor assembly after switching support to back MB

2:26 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – Bersatu’s Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari (Selat Kelang-PN) is a no-show at today’s state assembly sitting after making a surprise announcement backing the menteri besar yesterday.

Rashid has yet to make an appearance as of 2pm today.

Yesterday, he declared his support for Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari’s leadership, saying that the decision was made without any coercion from others.

Rashid also said the decision was also made for the well-being of the people in his constituency, who will benefit from a stable state government.

Despite supporting Amirudin’s leadership, he said he remains committed as a Bersatu member in the opposition bloc and will continue to serve as Selat Klang assemblyman.

Responding to Rashid’s decision, Selangor opposition leader Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali (Hulu Kelang-PN) urged his fellow party member to come forward and explain his decision.

Azmin said PN had strongly condemned Rashid’s actions if the reports on the matter are true, as it is considered a betrayal of his electoral mandate. – March 7, 2024
