Search continues for missing crew member of Liberian ship in Singapore waters

City state’s port authority says report involving UTOPIA came in at 3.30am

SINGAPORE – A maritime search mission is underway for a crew member of the Liberia-flagged vessel, UTOPIA, who has been reported missing in Singapore waters.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) was notified of the incident at about 3.30am today.

“The MPA, Police Coast Guard and Singapore Civil Defence Force craft have been deployed to search for the missing person within Singapore Port Limits,” it said in a statement, today.

The MPA also issued navigational safety broadcasts and requests that vessels in the vicinity and in port to keep a lookout and report sightings to the MRCC. – March 15, 2024
