KUALA LUMPUR – The father of 12-year-old Siti Dhia Batrisyia Mohd Chairil Anuar, who has been missing since last Tuesday, says he has been sleepless for the past three days, as he has been tirelessly searching for his daughter.

Speaking to Scoop, Chairil Anwar Mahmud said that he has been diligently searching nearby areas, such as Jalang Kenanga, Jalan Hang Tuah, and Bukit Bintang, for his missing daughter since the day she disappeared.

“I have been sleepless for the past three days, searching for her all around the city.

“Some of her friends said she might be in Dataran Merdeka, Bukit Bintang, Taman Dagang, Padang Perdana… I don’t know where she could be, but I’m still relentlessly searching for her,” he said.

Earlier today, Scoop visited Flat Sri Selangor on Jalan San Peng in Pudu, where Dhia resides.

Chairil, in his 40s, said he believes his daughter is somewhere in the city, but it seems that she doesn’t want to come back home.

He added that, while he’s a strict man, he’s never raised a hand against his children.

“Perhaps that’s why Siti (Dhia Batrisyia) may have left home, fearing that I would scold her,” he said.

Dhia, who has been reported missing since Tuesday, failed to return home following a reported disagreement with her mother.

When contacted by Scoop yesterday, Syarifah Rosfazila Syed Muhammad Fazili, 41, the girl’s mother, said that the last time she was with her eldest daughter was at their home at around 4pm that day.

Syarifah Rosfazila said they had a disagreement after she received a WhatsApp message from Dhia’s school teacher informing her that her daughter was absent from school.

When Dhia returned home in the evening, she asked about her daughter’s absence from school and her whereabouts.

However, Dhia said she had gone to buy a gift to surprise Syarifah and Chairil on their wedding anniversary.

Chairil also said that his wife Syarifah has not eaten or broken her fast since the day Dhia left their home, focused on their daughter’s well-being.

“I just want her (Dhia) to come and visit her mother. I won’t scold her. I just feel pity to see my wife like this.

“I want her mother (referring to his wife) to eat well and stay in good health,” he said as tears flowed from his eyes, adding that he cannot bear to see his wife like this.

Chairil also revealed that Dhia’s friends have told him that she may have run away with a working adult boyfriend, whom they believe resides in a nearby block.

He said that since his daughter has a mature appearance, people might assume that she is a teenager aged between 15 and 17.

She had once gone missing after being scolded, but she returned home around the afternoon, he added.

In response to negative comments from the public regarding his daughter’s actions, he defended her by stating that, as a parent, he knows her well, that she is a soft-spoken and polite girl. – March 16, 2024
