JB’s Sultanah Aminah Hospital denies claim of delayed emergency treatment

Internal probe found social media user’s allegation to be false, hospital says

1:46 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru has denied accusations on social media that it delayed treatment to a patient at its emergency and trauma department.

An internal investigation found the claim to be false, the hospital said in a statement posted on X by the Health Ministry.

The hospital said the patient, who had a broken collarbone, was admitted at 10.33pm (on March 16), had their vital signs taken in the “Green Zone” at 10.45pm, and was treated with a splint at 11pm.

A medical officer then attended to the patient at 3.30am the following day, and the patient was referred to the orthopaedic department 40 minutes later.

The patient was given “conservative treatment” and a follow-up appointment for 8am on March 24.

“The patient was then discharged with a medical certificate and painkillers,” the hospital said in its statement.

It was responding to claims by a social media user on X with the handle @Iqakhairuzamann, believed to be an insurance agent, who tweeted on March 16 that a client had not been attended to since 7pm that day and was only treated the next evening. – March 19, 2024
