Ninja Van probing deliveryman who tossed customer’s parcel on floor

Unhappy customer calls for action, as other customers chime in with their own stories of poorly handled deliveries

KUALA LUMPUR – Parcel delivery company Ninja Van is investigating complaints of a deliveryman captured on CCTV throwing a parcel carelessly into a customer’s house porch.

The company told Scoop that it is taking full responsibility for the deliveryman’s behaviour, stating that it is firmly against such actions.

A Ninja Van spokesman said a special team had been formed to investigate the incident, which was shared by the customer on Reddit

“Upon completion of the inquiry, Ninja Van will take appropriate disciplinary measures to prevent similar incidents in the future,” the company’s spokesman said.

The incident was posted on Reddit by a user called RespectPretty4929 who shared the CCTV footage showing the delivery man carelessly tossing a parcel onto the floor.

The video also shows a stray dog almost immediately entering the scene to take the parcel in its mouth, as the gate to the house was opened at the time.

RespectPretty4929 said the parcel’s removal by the stray dog showed that the deliveryman was negligent in ensuring the item delivered would be kept safe.

“The gate being open, he (the delivery man) neglected to take a few extra steps to place the parcel in a safer location, like on a bench or a shoe rack,” RespectPretty4929, who had ordered the item, said.

Although the deliveryman managed to retrieve the parcel, the user said it was unfair that he or she had to pay the price for the deliveryman’s attitude.

“The item in question was not only relatively expensive but also delicate and susceptible to damage. I’m left shocked and speechless by this incident.

“Despite attempting to address the issue with the driver, he simply ignored me, offering no apology or response of such an act. It’s truly disappointing.”

The complainant said Shopee, where the item was purchased, ought to take action as “online shopping has become a norm for many”.

In the post’s comments section, other Reddit users said they have had similar experiences with delivery and courier services.

A user named nova9001 said he or she had seen Ninja Van workers at a sorting centre throw packages around while sorting them.

Another user known as KamenUncle said the delivery man should be blacklisted. – March 28, 2024
