KUALA LUMPUR – Police arrested a local couple yesterday on suspicion of supplying firearms to an Israeli man who was apprehended at a hotel in Jalan Ampang.

Speaking to Scoop, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the couple, aged 42 and 40, were apprehended by officers and members of the Bukit Aman criminal investigation department and Selangor police headquarters at about 7.30 last night.

He said the duo was arrested in Kuala Selangor and taken to their residence before a gun was found in a backpack in their car.

“The male suspect is believed to be the individual responsible for supplying the six guns to the Israeli citizens who entered the country using French passports,” he said.

He also added that further investigations are being carried out.

The couple also admitted to purchasing the firearm from Thailand, Razarudin said.

The police also arrested another local man believed to be the driver for the Israeli citizen in relation to the case.

During a press conference yesterday, Razarudin said the police arrested an Israeli man with six different types of pistols at a hotel on Jalan Ampang last Wednesday.

Investigation into the 38-year-old suspect revealed that he had entered Malaysia on March 12 via Kuala Lumpur International Airport, he said.

“When questioned, the suspect presented another passport, which was an Israeli passport.

“Further, the authorities seized a total of six firearms discovered in a bag in the hotel room where the suspect stayed,” he added.

Razarudin revealed that the suspect claimed to have come to Malaysia with the intention of locating an Israeli citizen to kill, allegedly due to a family-related matter. – March 30, 2024
