KUALA LUMPUR – Some 10.85 million out of 30.08 million Malaysians have updated their data in the Central Data Hub (Padu) system as of noon today.

Padu’s official Facebook page showed that the top five states with the highest number of individuals updating their data: Selangor (1.74 million), Johor (1.25 million), Perak (1.09 million), Kedah (0.86 million), and Kelantan (0.76 million).

Kuala Lumpur recorded 0.63 million individuals who have updated their data with Padu, followed by Penang (0.63 million), Pahang (0.61 million), and Terengganu (0.51 million).

However, three states and two federal territories registered less than 0.50 million data updates, namely Negri Sembilan at 0.46 million, Melaka at 0.34 million, Perlis at 0.12 million, and Labuan and Putrajaya, each, at 0.03 million individuals.

Meanwhile, Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin, told reporters today that as of noon, there were over 10.8 million Malaysians, equivalent to 48.3% of the total 21.96 million Malaysian citizens above 18 years old, who have registered their data with the system.

Uzir said that he is optimistic that the number of Padu signups will reach 50% of the total 30.08 million Malaysians by the end of today.

He also mentioned that there are a total of 1,902 physical Padu registration counters opened nationwide, at government programmes, agencies, and on community levels. The counters will be closed at 5 pm today.

He added that the registration traffic at physical counters shows Malaysians’ eagerness to register with Padu and are accepting of the government’s initiative.

The system introduced on January 2 has been developed well and is running smoothly, as seen during the registration period, Uzir said to reporters when met at the meet-and-greet and registration programme in Petaling Jaya earlier today.

Padu is set to close its registration at midnight. Those who have not registered and updated their data can head to Padu’s website at https://www.padu.gov.my or a nearby Padu counter.

Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli said, on March 23, that the government would not extend Padu’s registration deadline, as the schedule to implement bulk subsidy restructuring needs to be adhered to. – March 31, 2024
