Padu sees high traffic amid last-minute registrations

People queued up as early as 7.30am to physically update details at counters as some experienced issues with online registrations

KUALA LUMPUR – With only hours left to register for the government’s Central Database Hub (Padu), users are experiencing difficulties accessing its website due to high traffic.  

Padu’s website displays a message saying “Systems are experiencing high traffic. Please try later.” 

The hub is also trending on social media, with many people complaining about not being able to access the website whether to register or update their information.  

Those unable to register online have opted to physically visit Padu counters for their last-minute registrations.  

Counters reported to be overcrowded include the Malaysian Information Department’s Pusat Maklumat Rakyat (public information centre), located at the Urban Transformation Centre in Anggerik Mall, Shah Alam.  

People have been coming as early as 7.30am to physically update their details, and the queue was about 30m.

Several individuals also expressed their dissatisfaction about not being able to scan their identity cards for verification and having to update their initial registration multiple times.  

“It was difficult to fill up (our details in) Padu. It did not detect my face, as I wasn’t pretty (at that time). 

“It said ‘failed’ as (my face) did not match my IC. I tried again, but had it not been successful, what can be done,” X user Hanyahana lamented.  

Moreover, some vented that their old addresses were displayed on the website, although they had already updated their current address. 

“#PADU issue: (my) address has been changed in the system. But the old one (is displayed) after checking today, and we cannot make edits. What can be done, or do we let it be?” questioned a user named Michael.  

Previously, Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli said that the government had no intention to extend the registration period for Padu, which ends at midnight tonight.

He said bulk subsidy restructuring, which was announced in the past, must be implemented according to schedule.  

“If I had the capacity, of course, I would extend (the registration period). However, that would mean pushing back our timelines,” he said. – March 31, 2024
