KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and police have busted online swinger activities on social media.

In a statement, MCMC said husband and wife-swapping activities within this group have also come to light due to public complaints and monitoring by the commission.

“Operations conducted by MCMC’s enforcement division and Kedah and Johor police recently uncovered a group of swingers possessing a significant number of pornographic videos.

“As a result of the raid, mobile phones, computers, and the suspects’ pen drives were seized for further investigation,” the statement read.

It added that three suspects, aged between 39 and 50 years old, were found to have been operating as administrators for a swinger group on X.

“They were found to be profiting from the sale of pornographic materials.

“The suspects’ modus operandi involves uploading short videos on X those interested in accessing full videos would then be charged a fee ranging from RM100 to RM400 for a Telegram link.

The case is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588), which provides for a maximum fine of RM50,000 or imprisonment for up to one year, or both if convicted.

MCMC also reminds the public not to abuse social networks and engage in illegal online application services. – April 3, 2024
